Wild Boar Dachshund
A Wild Boar Dachshund is a lovely little thing. Wild Boar is a color that should be exclusive to a wirehaired dachshund. That s not always the case, but we ll get into that in a second. The main point is that wild boar is an unusual color combination. It is a blend of brown, black and gold hairs throughout the body with bright tan points in all the right places. I often describe this as a brunette with gold highlights. A wild boar dachshund should contain no red coloring. At all.

I think Wild Boar would come, historically, from the wirehaired terriers in their background. A salt and pepper kind of thing. I honestly have a theory that wild boar and wheaton are more of a pattern than a coloring. Since both of them are basically a blend of color. I first discovered this pattern with my first solid black wirehair, Brody. Brody started developing silver hairs thoughout his coat in his second year. I was sitting there, playing with my four wires.. my Brody, Sugar and Spice (wild boar) and Goldy (Wheaton). It occured to me then, that they all share the exact same blend of colors. A pattern. Sorry, genetics facinate me like that. Oddly enough, a solid colored dachshund (red, chocolate and tan or black and tan, etc.) has never presented themselves to me like that. They maintain their solid coloring.
